Be Right Back

A digital-physical project reflecting on travel, culture, and reconnection through animation, AR postcards, and interactive web design. Be Right Back is a multi-format, digital-physical project created during my final internship at Tier Zero. Inspired by a 2022 trip to the Philippines — my first visit in over a decade — the project is an ode to travel, reconnection, and cultural memory. It explores three core pillars: Nature, Culture, and Future, while reflecting on the sentiment of “leaving and returning,” embodied in the phrase: “I’ll be right back — it won’t take as long next time.”The project began with a desire to capture the feeling of movement, memory, and reconnection through art. Using footage and photographs from my trip, I designed a series of looping digital visuals which that became the centerpiece of a scrollable website experience, developed in collaboration with Higher Ground Studios.To expand the experience into the physical world, I designed a limited-edition print postcard series. When scanned with a phone, these prints revealed an AR animation of the project’s logo, floating in space above the card. A separate Instagram selfie filter added another layer of accessibility, allowing users to connect to the project through social media.
